Wholesale Strategy

Today’s Group was launched in the autumn of 1987 and is the Wholesale division of Nisa Retail (launched 1977).

As the UK’s largest Buying Group, it encompasses almost 240 Independent Wholesalers, both Delivered and Cash & Carry, covering everyday needs such as; Grocery, Licensed, Health & Beauty, Household and Impulse categories nationwide including; Shetland, Orkney, Northern Ireland and Isle of Wight.

Strategy

Today’s Group strategy is to deliver benefits for Independent Wholesalers to enable them to compete within the market place by growing sales and profit.

All member wholesalers are independently owned, and by operating a ‘multiple’ culture, hope to improve long-term pricing, promotion activity and trading standards, to benefit members and customers of the wholesaler – Independent Retailers.

We are a large organisation, and we believe that by keeping operating costs as low as possible, long-term benefits will prosper all involved.

We are, however, flexible. Members can trade under their own name and / or in conjunction with Today’s Group signage.

We do not operate a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach, but work around the member needs by structuring the 240 members into either Groups 1, 2 or 3, dependent on what the member can give or wants out of the Group.

Today’s Group are renowned for leading the sector when promoting offers within the membership by creative marketing and event activity.

17 promotional periods a year offers over 200 products supported by modern exciting brochures and Point of Sale.

The Today’s Group were also the first to launch Retail Club activity in 1999 and the first to develop Consumer Door-to-Door leaflets within the wholesale sector. Some 14 wholesale members, encompassing 750 plus disciplined retailers, using modern, easy to read personalised Point of Sale.

The Today’s Group believes that by all members working together, every one is better off than trading individually, however rewards are higher to those who put more in – flexibility is the key, however, unity is strength.

The Today’s Group believe that with this effective strategy, wholesalers and Independent retailers can survive within the current market place.
