Today’s Group reports successful trading figures

Following on from its successful first quarter trading figures, the Today’s Group reported that it has recorded an overall trading success of in excess of 20% in value terms year-on-year for the second quarter of 2009.

Once again the licensed category was the star performer trading up +32% value. Of that Beers and lager was up a massive +50%, with spirits and wine up +23% and +27% respectively. General grocery also did well at +22% value overall, with Tea, at +27%, Biscuits, at +22% and Coffee, with growth of +19%, showing particularly strong performance.

The impulse category also demonstrated positive growth with overall figures of +13% value, of which soft drinks was the strongest performer up +16%. Crisps and snacks showed improvement with an increase of +12% value, while sugar confectionery and chocolate confectionery were both up 6% and 9% respectively.

“Following our strong first quarter trading figures we were confident we could continue to perform and record further growth,” said Nick Barker, Today’s Group trading director. “The group has performed fantastically beating the figures year-on-year and for the last quarter.
