23/10/2009

Nisa-Today's has announced strong growth in its six month trading update from April to September 2009. Company sales were up 11.84% in value terms to £651.4 million and 6.6% in volume to 51.3 million cases. This puts Nisa-Today’s on track to significantly exceed its target of £1.3 billion turnover for the year and to pass the 100 million cases milestone through its Central Distribution operation by the end of March 2010.
A total of 182 new stores have joined Nisa so far this year with 136 leaving, meaning the number of stores in Nisa membership is up by 46. This period of success has also seen the Nisa Symbol Group reach the 600 store mark with growth of 25.4%, while service levels to members through the company’s Central Distribution Service were consistently high, exceeding 97.5%.
In addition rebates to members of Nisa-Today’s were up 15% year-on-year, with the groups New Era Trading Terms and New Era Gold schemes performing well, and earlier this year the company paid out a £500k surplus to members for the second year running.
“All areas of the business are performing very well,” said Neil Turton, Nisa-Today’s chief executive officer. “It seems evident that consumers are returning to vibrant local stores for their shopping needs.”
