Nisa-Today’s Donates Sports equipment to Crosby Community Project
05/12/2007

This December, the Today’s Group, the wholesale division of Scunthorpe based Nisa-Today’s, donated almost £2,500 worth of sporting equipment to the Crosby Neighbourhood Management Pathfinder project. The equipment was presented by footballing legend, Pat Jennings OBE.KSG, at Sheffield Park, Scunthorpe.
Crosby Neighbourhood Management Pathfinder is a Government-supported initiative led by local residents, which is dedicated to improving the quality of life of people living in central Scunthorpe.
The sporting equipment – which included basketballs and nets, bar football and table tennis - had been used as part of a eight-month promotional campaign by the Today’s Group in 2007 called ‘Sporting Madness’, fronted by a host of sporting celebrities including Pat Jennings OBE.KSG. It involved a branded trailer touring the premises of 31 of the group’s wholesale members, encouraging existing and potential customers to visit and participate in sporting activities. The campaign – which concluded in October - was hugely successful for Today’s Group members.
Nick Barker, trading director of the Today’s Group said, “Nisa-Today’s has been located in Scunthorpe for the past 18 years and donating this equipment was a great way for us to put something back into the local community that has supported us during this time. Pathfinder is a very worthy project and we are delighted to be able to support it in this small way.”
The sporting equipment was showcased and presented by Pat Jennings OBE.KSG at a play area within Sheffield Park. The branded trailer also made a guest appearance and in addition, the Today’s Group gave out free mini footballs/rugby balls, mini cricket bats and stress balls to local residents in the Crosby area.
