Nisa-Today’s Recruits Poundworld
29/04/2009

Nisa-Today’s has recruited high street single price point retailer Poundworld to its retail membership.
The Leeds-based retailer was founded in 1974 by brothers Chris Edwards Senior and Laurie Edwards, first trading under the name ‘Bargain Centre’, rebranded to ‘Everything’s £1’ in 1997 and becoming Poundworld in 2004. It has over 70 stores in the UK with a further 15 planned to open year on year and features a number of categories including food and drink, toiletries, medical, petcare, housewares, DIY, toys, electrical and entertainment. It also has a large range of import lines due to an extensive overseas operation which includes a workforce of over 15 people based at its Hong Kong and Shanghai offices. The retailer has stores in major UK shopping destinations including Manchester, Gateshead, Merryhill, Liverpool, Leeds, York, Newcastle, Nottingham and Derby.
Poundworld is currently experiencing its most successful trading period, recording its highest ever customer figures – the latest turnover figures for the 2008 financial year at over £70m. It will be taking ambient product from Nisa-Today’s to supplement its non-food offering and benefitting from the group’s preferential trading terms.
Steve Fallon, buyer for Poundworld commented, “We’ve joined Nisa to benefit from its relationships with suppliers and the strong trading terms it has with them. We are also looking to utilise the group’s other extensive range of services in the future. We’re very much looking forward to working closely with Nisa for the benefit of our organisation and our customers.”
