Nisa-Today’s Announces New Non-Executive Chairman
08/05/2008

Nisa-Today’s has announced that Mark Pullen, independent non-executive director of Nisa-Today’s Holdings Board, has been appointed as non-executive chairman. He replaces Raj Chatha who became chairman of the Board in May 2007. At the time of becoming chairman, it was agreed that Raj would chair the company for one year whilst Nisa-Today’s was undergoing an important transition period and developing a number of new strategies and business objectives. This period has now been successfully completed.
Nisa-Today’s has achieved considerable success in the time of Raj Chatha’s chairmanship including:
- Achieving record sales of over £1.1 billion and industry leading sales growth;
- Considerable improvement in corporate Governance and business planning;
- New strategies to improve the group’s supply chain capability including plans to expand into Southern Ireland;
- Investment in Nisa-Today’s own EPoS solution, launched in April 2008;
- Winning the Symbol/Fascia Group of the Year award in 2007;
- Increase in rebates to members;
- The continued increase in turnover of the Today’s Group;
- A move to state-of-the-art member-owned offices.
Raj Chatha commented, “It has been a fantastic year for Nisa-Today’s and I am very proud of what we have achieved. The group has an excellent executive team that both I and the Board rate very highly and has my full support for the future. I wish the management team and the new chairman Mark Pullen the very best and now look forward to concentrating fully on my own business commitments.”
Neil Turton, chief executive officer of Nisa-Today’s added, “When Raj became chairman, it was always the intention that he would serve for one year to help the company through a period of change. In the last 12 months, Raj has provided strong leadership and served the members of the company extremely well. He has spent a great deal of time working with the team at Nisa-Today’s to deliver a much improved business and made considerable sacrifices in his own business and family life to do so. It was always the Board’s aim that the company would seek an independent chair at the end of Raj’s term of office and the Board now believes that Nisa-Today’s is in a strong position for the future as Raj hands over to Mark Pullen. Raj has been an excellent chairman and that the fact that the Board gave Raj two spontaneous rounds of applause at the Board meeting this week, I think, speaks volumes.”
Mark Pullen is a businessman of significant experience who has worked in the consumer goods industry for over 30 years. Most recently, he was Group Finance director for Geest PLC – a position he held for 10 years – which also included responsibilities for IT, purchasing, corporate finance, PR and legal. Mark has also worked with Unilever and Guinness in a number of capacities including logistics, strategic planning, industrial relations and marketing. He is a qualified accountant with a business degree and is currently a non-executive director and chair of the audit Committee of Buckinghamshire Primary Care Trust and an advisor to small charities through his membership of Pilotlight.
