Excellent Christmas trading for Nisa Central Distribution
12/01/2009

Despite the challenging economic environment, Nisa Central Distribution has reported a record week of sales in the week preceding Christmas, positive growth across ambient, chilled and frozen categories for the month of December and a 17.7% increase in sales through its Christmas Price Buster promotion - despite a 30% shorter running time from the previous year.
Nisa reported an all time sales record through Central Distribution - 150,000 cases above its previous record - in the week before Christmas reinforcing the presence of an excellent trading package and service for its members over the period.
The company’s trading figures for the month of December through Nisa Central Distribution showed year-on-year growth on ambient of +11% volume and +14% value, the chilled category experienced +2.3% volume and +5.7 value, while the sale of frozen products was up a healthy +7% volume and +3% value. Of key importance in the Christmas trading period was the performance of the licensed and confectionery categories, which demonstrated like-for-like growth of +6.6% and +17% respectively.
The period including the 13 weeks up to December also showed growth in the build up to the busy trading taking place immediately preceding Christmas. Each category experienced positive growth with Nisa’s New Era Trading Terms and the Nisa Symbol Group responsible for driving particularly strong growth at +14% and +24% respectively.
In achieving these results Nisa-Today’s has invested heavily in the key categories, in line with the company’s business plan and sacrificed a degree of profitability to support sales to members and in turn their customer offer.
