Community & Charity Support
In addition to the Making A Difference – Locally charity , Nisa-Today’s undertakes a series of campaigns and trading initiatives to support charities and the local community around its Member Support Centre in Scunthorpe.
- In 2009, Nisa-Today's is joining forces with Butcher's Dog Food to support Jerry Green Dog Rescue. To coincide with our consumer magazine Instore, 3p of every single can sold will be donated to the charity throughout the year.
- In 2008, Nisa-Today’s donated £5,000 to the Guide Dogs for the Blind charity, allowing it to buy a puppy, name it, and pay for its training towards becoming a fully fledged guide dog. The money was raised through a promotion the group ran throughout periods 17 and 18 in 2007/8, which saw 15p of every consumer purchase of the Heritage own brand dry dog food and mixer ranges go to the charity.
- Also in 2008, over £6,000 was donated to UK charity, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People enabling the charity to buy a dog, train it and find it a suitable companion to help a deaf person in their everyday lives. The scheme involved Nisa-Today’s teaming up with Butcher’s dog food and donating five pence from every 400g can of Butcher’s branded dog food sold to the charity.
- In 2007, through its Sporting Madness campaign, the Today’s Group donated almost
£30,000 to local charities across the country, which was matched locally by wholesale members.
- Also in 2007, almost £2,500 worth of sporting equipment (formerly used in the Today’s Group’s Sporting Madness campaign) was donated to the Crosby Neighbourhood Management Pathfinder project in Scunthorpe - a Government-supported initiative led by local residents - which is dedicated to improving the quality of life of people living in central Scunthorpe.
- Free bottles of Nisa-Today’s Heritage and Costcutter-branded water were delivered to member stores in Gloucestershire - to be given out to their customers free of charge - in an attempt to help the thousands of people without access to running water in their homes, following the severe floods in the county in the summer of 2007.
